Swim Lessons

Group Swim Lessons
Lessons will include everything from survival techniques to swim strokes. Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday lessons are taught only on those 2 days for 4 weeks, totaling 8 lessons per session
. Make-up lessons are scheduled only when class has been cancelled due to inclement weather or LJCC facility closings. Classes must have at least three participants registered. All classes will meet the first scheduled day, and depending on participation, may be canceled or combined. If the class is canceled due to lack of participation, credit will be issued. The LJCC teaches to American Red Cross (ARC) lesson structure.

FYI and helpful hints for swim lessons

• register early, classes will fill up
• arrive a little early for the lesson

• light snacks only before lesson if at all.
• have children use restroom before the lesson.
• please talk to instructor before or after class time
• no make ups for missed classes, except classes cancelled by LJCC due to weather
• once you have attended the first class, no refunds

Beginner (Ages 3-4)
These lessons are for children who have fear of the water or do not have any swimming ability. This class covers water exploration and primary skills in order for the child’s comfort level to be ready for the more advanced beginning locomotive skills. The participants also learn floating, kicking, under water skills, and the introduction to back floating. Each class will have 8 lessons lasting 30 minutes. The class size is limited to 5 participants per instructor.
Intermediate (Ages 4 and Up)
This class is for children who are more comfortable in the water and can swim unassisted for at least 5 yards. Participants will learn rhythmic breathing and begin stroke readiness. The same format is followed as Beginner.

Advanced (Ages 4 and Up)
This class is for those children who can swim at least 10 yards while breathing without help and have little or no fear of the deep water. The skills learned in this level are freestyle, backstroke, treading water, and breaststroke is introduced. The next level will be Swim Team.

Private/ Semi-Private Swim Lessons
For children who need one on one or two on one attention. These are by appointment only and prices vary depending on the number of participants. You can schedule as many as you need to accomplish your desired goals.
Adult Swim Lessons (19 and up)
For beginners who have little or no swimming ability. Teaching individuals to become relaxed in the water is goal for those who are afraid by enhancing their knowledge of breath control and buoyancy before learning the correct strokes to move through the water. These are by appointment only and prices vary depending on the number of participants. You can schedule as many as you need to accomplish your desired goals.
