Meet The Sports & Fitness Staff
Dan Tourtellotte - Sports & Wellness Director
Dan Tourtellotte has held the position of Sports and Fitness Director at the Levite Jewish Community Center since October 1986. Dan’s responsibilities include, managing all aspects of the Sports and Fitness Department including: Youth and Adult Sports, Aquatics Department, Babysitting, Personal Training Program and Group Fitness Program. He is also the direct supervisor to Department heads including: Athletic Director, Aquatics Director, Group Fitness Director and Wellness Director. In addition to these duties, Dan continues Teaching group fitness classes and is the CPR trainer for all fitness staff.
Dan has 25 years experience in the fitness industry and holds a bachelors degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Auburn University.
Dan’s certifications include: American Council on Exercise Personal Trainer, American Council on Exercise Industry Advisory Panel Member, Johnny G Spinning, Les Mils BODYPUMP™, Les Mils RPM™, Body Training System, Group Ride TRX Suspension TRAINING and American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED for the workplace Instructor.
Kreston Collins - Assistant Sports & Wellness Director
Kreston is a 2005 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B.S. in Exercise. He has been certified by the American Council on Exercise since 2003 as well as being a certified RPM™, SPINNING, and TRX instructor.
Linay Smith-Group Fitness Director
Dale Clark - Tennis Professional
Dale is a 1985 Samford Graduate where he played varsity tennis. He began teaching tennis in 1980 and became USPTA certified in 1985. He joined the LJCC staff in 1994 and has over 25 years of experience teaching the game of tennis. He has been playing tennis for almost 40 years. Dale started playing tennis all those years ago because, “it was something that we all did as a family.” He believes tennis is the perfect “family” sport and encourages family unity!
Miriam Sokol - Aquatics Coordinator
Miriam graduated from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Performance/Physical Education. Miriam is very passionate about the LJCC aquatics program. She has been employed by the LJCC for 11 years, and has worked as Aquatics Coordinator for 8 years. She worked with the youth and men’s basketball leagues from 1999-2002. Miriam has a 2 year old son who attends the Cohn ECLC. As the Aquatics Director, she teaches swim lessons and helps ensure a safe, enjoyable swimming experience for our members and guests. She loves working at the LJCC for the wonderful programs it offers and for the members and staff she sees and interacts with each day.
