Camp LJCC CIT
(Counselor - in - Training
Entering Grades 8 & up
(J members and/or veteran LJCC campers only)
Make a difference in the life of a child! Spend a part of your summer with us getting "on the job training" and experience working with children. As a CIT, you will learn basic information on child development and behavior modification, develop "kid relating" skills, learn to lead games and activities, while making the transition from camper to counselor gracefully and in a mature and professional manner.
All CITs are required to attend CIT training and orientation sessions - NO EXCEPTIONS! May 28 - 31, 2013 (exact times to be determined)
All CIT's must commit to work at least 3 weeks of camp between June 3 and August 16.
Our CIT program has grown so much that we do not have space for everyone; therefore, the CIT's will be selected much like we select camp staff. This will require potential CITs to complete an application with references, go thru an interview, and if selected, attend staff orientation. Criteria to be considered in the selection process are summer availability, questionaire, completion of RIGHT REACTION CLASSES, certifications, child care experience, extra-curricular activities, awards or accomplishments and Camp LJCC experience and knowledge.
Right Reaction Seminars for Tweens and Teens
These life skills will be helpful to your children no matter where they go or what they do. You never know when your child will be in an emergency situation. Help him/her be prepared and know the RIGHT REACTION. Your child will learn how to handle unexpected and sometimes critical situations. Whether your child is going to be a babysitter, lifeguard, camp counselor or just a friend; these skills will serve him well. These classes are strongly suggested for those interested in becoming an LJCC CIT or counselor.

CIT's receive a stipend based upon seniority, attendance and performance. You may request as few as 3 weeks or as many as 7. Weeks will be assigned based upon camp need. Limited spaces are available each week.
The CIT application as well as the camper registration forms and $35 registration fee are required because applicant is not old enough to work and therefore is legally considered a camper. The application deadline is April 1. Interviews will be scheduled after the deadline. 2nd-3rd year CIT's turn in the top half of the CIT application listing the weeks you are available and camper registration forms with $35.
