LJCC Summer Day Camps
Welcome to Camp LJCC!
Camp LJCC offers day camps to the entire Birmingham community for entering grades 1 - 8. We offer camps all 12 weeks of summer and most importantly, our camp has a "camp a la carte" system that allows you to plan your summer exactly as you wish - sign upfor one week or all twelve. You can mix and match weeks with Day Camp, specialty and/or sport camps. Day Camp is our traditionally styled day camp and includes activities such as swimming, swim lessons, field trips, sports, games, art, hiking, cooking and special events that provide a variety of experiences that are challenging as well as exciting. Specialty campers spend half the day with the Specialty Instructor (2014 Specialty Day Camps include Legos, Theatre, Chess, Science, Rock Band Camp, Cooking, Art, Yoga, Dance and more) and the other half-day with camp staff doing campy things just like Day Camp. Sport Day Camps are designed for your child to improve skills and techniques in a fun environment (2014 sport camps include Tennis, Basketball, Fitness, Baseball, Lacrosse, UAB Soccer and All Sports for both boys and girls). These are recreational in nature and not intensely competitive. Camp LJCC Day Camps offer something for everyone!

LJCC Summer Camps ... a camping tradition since 1952. For over 50 years, we have had the honor of enhancing the lives of your children. We believe that our summer camps contribute uniquely to the growth and development of your children toward the kind of persons you want them to become. Our camps encourage them to be capable of good judgment, to establish firm beliefs, to gain new and warm friendships, to learn to work together effectively and play fairly with each other, and to make worthy contributions to the communities in which they belong. Your children, our campers, will develop strong character and self -identity through varied activities and experiences.
All summer day camps at the J are open and widely attended by people of all backgrounds and faiths. While not the camp's ultimate mission, a part of our mission is to enhance Jewish identity through exposure to Jewish culture. These experiences result in acceptance, tolerance and support of the Jewish faith as adults. This is accomplished at camp by offering a framework of understanding, exploring and incorporating the Jewish virtue of "being a good person" into camp life. This is an important life lesson to experience.
At the end of summer, your children may leave our camps, but they take with them wonderful memories of fun, love, and laughter; Memories that will invariably stay with them for a lifetime, helping make them stronger people, kinder souls and better friends.
This is the tradition of LJCC Summer Camps, now and forever...Shalom.
LJCC Camp Philosophy
The goal of our day camp is to provide a happy, meaningful and enriching experience for our campers. We want to help children grow and feel good about themselves. We believe that kids can mature emotionally through their participation in a group with an interested, accepting role model. Click here for more on our philosophy.
The J is a place where people of all faiths and communities come together for wellness of mind, body and soul.
